The Giant’s Win

The Giants now heaved a contented sigh ending the season’s opening with a 10-10 record. This is not a record that they wanted but it is something that they feel an achievement after the 2-7 record at the start.
With their record at 0500, manager Bruce Bochy said that it is already good for a ballclub and it already shows some character for the team. They already had enough reason to recover when the Dodgers defeated then with 2 wins in a three game series and they won 7 out of the last nine games that they had.
Tim Lincecum’s presence was something. He was the Cy Young Award winner who tried to downplay the expectations said that he is not playing as the Cy Young awardee but he is playing as himself and that he is not worried about anything.
Having Lincecum in the team is an advantage. With Lincecums confidence, the offense play is a lot easier because other players will be more relaxed. The offense even produced a season high of 15 hits.
Lincecum’s effort had produced an improvement with a quality start. Lincecum, needed only 5 pitches and he completed his first inning.
Lincecum’s play was something helpful for the Giants. He even opened the second inning striking Andre Ethier out. Ethier entered the game with a record of .353 in the current season with their game against San Francisco. With the Giant’s point of view, they can say that balance was restored.
The growing momentum of Lincecum was something that the fans got so excited about. It is not just the Giants feeling the game but the crowd as well. The crowd’s cheering is shouting that they wanted the Giants to win as much as the team players wanted to and they have the next months and games to prove how good they are.

Danbury hits hard on Darien

Danbury High’s The Hatters smashed Darien High’s The Blue Wave in a volley match that would keep the latter from making a huge leap towards the much coveted championship of the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference. The match was heart-stopping though. The Blue Wave nearly halted the Hatters’ advance.

The Hatters displayed a furious display of athletic performance as they rushed to conclude the first two sets with a massive win over their rivals. The third set, however, nearly proved fatal for Danbury for their dismal loss exposed their vulnerabilities. The Darien boys restored their confidence and morale with a dashing comeback in the third seriously putting Danbury into serious peril. The fourth might end up favorably to Darien.

The final set was decisive for both teams as they fought their way to victory. Ace players from Danbury high made stunning efforts to beef up their advantage. One of them was Janey, who led the team with an astonishing double digit record of 14 kills. Following closely behind was Daylon Wilkins with a whopping 12 kills. Janey also recorded 13 service points and four aces during the match. Wilkins augmented his performance record with equally commendable record of 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 10 digs. The third game was dangerous enough to rob them of their glory so they made it a top priority to launch a series of unmerciful attacks on Darien high to create huge advantage.

As for the Blue Wave, their spirits were revived after the humiliating defeat of their rivals in the third set. It was equally intense for them as well. They need to break into Danbury’s defenses and make a hard-hitting counter-offense. Blue Wave’s top strikers include Calder Billhardt with a double digit record of 10 kills followed by equally powerful middle hitter Eric Heberton with his 8 kills.

Despite their serious effort to turn back the tide, it proved to be too arduous for Darien. The gap in the two teams’ scores in the 4th set was too great. The match ended triumphantly for Danbury.

Froch Defeats Taylor

Carl Froch defeated former undisputed middleweight belt-holder Jemain Taylor on April 25th game held at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn.

Froch is known to be a household name in his native England. He is an undefeated who enhanced his reputation in US when he won over Taylor and defends his World Boxing Council (WBC) super middleweight title. Though Taylor is considered to be a great fighter and more accomplished, Froch proved to be the bigger one—a man who never lost. In fact, Froch-Taylor becomes one of the many compelling match-ups in the 168-pound weight division, one of the deepest and most exciting in boxing.

The game was aired at SHOWTIME, which was hosted by the WBC World Super Middleweight Championship in association with DiBella Entertainment. It showcased the theater at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods.

And when the game was held, the six-foot, 31-year old Carl Froch is one of 30 Shobox alums to become a world titleholder. In fact, he has fought all the best in UK. His victory over Taylor provided him with instant stardom. It offered him opportunity to unify against the IBF champion.

Taylor (28-2-1, 17 KOs) has had a productive pro career since the time he won the bronze medal for the United States in the 2000 Olympic Games. This six-foot-one-inch 30-year old boxer is considered to be as the only boxer to twice defeat future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins. He became 160-pound world champion in the WBC, World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF), and World Boxing Organization (WBA).

And after the April 25th boxing event, Froch took on Taylor, proving that he had traveled to fight for the best and to bag the medal for himself. At first, he was out-boxed and pounded to the canvas by Taylor in the third round. But Froch had toiled through the later rounds before he could find the right gear to knock Taylor. Froch gave the popular Arkansas fighter a crushing knockout loss in the 12th round. Although he had won over Taylor, some fans were disgruntled on his win and did not help him to gain any new American or British boxing fans. The performance, so they claimed, was gravely flawed due to he was knocked down in the 3rd round.
