Looking Back at the Soccer World Cup

The Soccer World Cup 2010 was just the biscuit in terms of the organization and execution of the game. It started off with the historical location. South Africa is an inspiration for all people that want to break free from the chains of intolerance. It has been able to survive the blatant wickedness of apartheid whilst remaining the most developed nation in the continent. This is not to say that they do not have problems. For example the crime rates and the AIDS scourge are factors that still challenge South Africa. The rightwing press would have preferred it if South Africa was a failure. That did not happen in any of the instances. Rather they had to congratulate them on great games.
It will be some time before they get such great output from all the quarters. The play on the games is extraordinary. It is one of the great things to happen in all the history. However there was also the issue of Spain and their great results. It just showed that there is plenty that can be done with the right mix of things. In the end that is what defines the things that South Africa brought us. We had the disappointment of many teams but some were more unlucky than others. There was a contingent that felt that Germany should have won. There were also worries about the impact of the game on the general spirits of the fans.
The terrible sounds of that instrument are not to be forgotten. The coverage was good and even complete with the tacky rendition of an old African song. England was beaten as usual and there were missed opportunities for Ghana. The FIFA committee continued to make its outrageous decisions and France went into meltdown. Ireland was cheated out of a place and the USA surprised everyone. These were the stories of the Soccer World Cup 2010 and they make for compelling reading in any context. They also mean that the public is looking forward to the next great event for the beautiful game in all respects.
